Freelancing: Will Write For Truffles
One cold Canberra morning, I went on a truffle hunt and cook with French Black Truffles of Canberra and 3 Seeds Cooking School. It was sponsored by Electrolux, who hired me to write a story about the experience.
In short, this annual truffle hunt and cook was brilliant. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves food or loves truffles (or the idea of truffles) and wonders where they come from and how to cook with them. And all the people at French Black Truffles and 3seeds are really friendly and full of information (I for one was peppering them with questions).
Here are some photos of the day...
Sniffing success! Good boy, Samson.
Now that's what I call a truffle.
Then followed two other truffle dishes - chicken and, possibly my favourite, veal with a truffle vodka sauce, but I don't have photos so you'll just have to wait and see my story (which also includes the recipe).
This chocolate mousse dish looked and tasted incredible.
Fresh truffles are available from Canberra delis through July and August each year, and around Australia. No excuses for not getting your hands on some!
